Sundance's public pass and package sale for the 2027 festival opens on October 15, 2026, and this will be the festival's first edition in Boulder, Colorado. The in-person festival runs January 21 to 31, 2027, the online program runs January 28 to 31, and the published prices run from $45 for an online short film pass to $7,500 for a donors-only express pass. Single film tickets do not go on sale until January 8, 2027 at 10 a.m. Mountain Time.

Which sale window applies to you

Sundance runs three presales before the public sale. Major Gifts Donors can buy from October 5, Donor Circle members from October 8, and members from October 13. Everyone else waits for October 15. Single film tickets follow a later calendar, with the general sale on January 8, 2027 at 10 a.m. MT, presales for Major Gift and Donor Circles on January 6, and a members presale on January 7.

Sundance's ticketing FAQ lists questions on account requirements, package fulfillment deadlines, ticket transfers, the waitlist and student discounts. The festival also sells a separate evening, Celebrating Sundance Institute: The Boulder Debut, with its own ticket and table packages, and pre-sale access to it opens to select donors on October 5.

In-person packages and the three express passes

The three express passes are the unlimited options. The Full Festival Express Pass costs $7,500 for unlimited in-person film screenings and Offscreen programs with priority entry across all 11 days, and the First Half Express Pass costs $6,100 for the same access from January 21 to 26. Sundance labels both as donors only. The Second Half Express Pass costs $4,500 for January 27 to 31, and it is the one express pass listed with an October 15 on-sale date instead of a donor restriction.

The five ticket packages work differently. They give a fixed number of tickets rather than unlimited entry, and buyers can select screenings before the public single ticket sale opens. Package holders can also change selections up to four hours before a screening starts.

PackagePriceWhat it covers
Full Festival Ticket Package$92510 in-person tickets across January 21 to 31
Encore Ticket Package$67510 tickets to encore screenings from January 22 to 31, and not valid for a film's first public screening
Second Half Ticket Package$45010 tickets for the final five days, January 27 to 31
Matinee Ticket Package$35010 tickets for screenings that start before 5 p.m., January 25 to 29
Ignite Ticket Package$27510 in-person tickets and 5 online tickets, January 24 to 31, for attendees aged 18 to 25 or enrolled students of any age

Sundance marks the Encore and Matinee packages as new for 2027. The difference between an express pass and a package is how entry works. An express pass is unlimited access with priority entry, so the holder decides on the day. A package holder picks screenings in advance and can move a selection up to four hours before the screening starts.

Single film tickets cost $37 when they open on January 8 at 10 a.m. MT, and an Ignite single film ticket costs $15 for the same age and student groups. Registration for the $15 ticket opens free of charge on December 8, 2026 at 10 a.m. MT.

On price presentation, Sundance attaches an all-in, fees-included label to the individual price lines on its in-person and online ticket pages. The $60 Online Festival Bundle is the one line where the page lists the inclusions without repeating that label.

The official in-person ticket page snapshot lists packages with 10 tickets each, while Express Passes include unlimited in-person film screenings and Offscreen programs with priority entry. The graphic compares the categories without showing a price or availability.

Watching the 2027 programme online

Online options run from January 28 to 31 and are limited to viewers in the United States and U.S. territories. Sundance states that proxy servers and VPNs are prohibited and will be detected during use.

The Online Festival Pass costs $825 and gives complete access to the entire online program with on-demand viewing. The Online Festival Ticket Package costs $350 for 10 online screening tickets, with film selection opening Thursday, January 7, 2027 at 2 p.m. MT. The Online Festival Short Films Pass costs $45 for unlimited online short films, and the Online Festival Bundle costs $60 for one online feature film or episodic screening ticket plus unlimited short films. The Online Festival Single Film Ticket costs $37 from January 8.

The Bundle is the one online product that can be checked against the others. One online film ticket plus the short films pass would come to $82 at the published prices, and the Bundle lists at $60 for both. The Bundle sits on the October 15 pass and package list, while the single ticket it stands in for carries a January 8 date.

The in-person and online windows overlap. Online screenings run January 28 to 31, the same four days that close the in-person festival in Boulder.

What the Boulder debut means for buyers

Sundance calls the 2027 edition its Boulder, Colorado debut, and the festival site lists the dates as January 21 to 31. The online products are sold separately from the in-person passes, and streaming is limited to the United States and U.S. territories, so an international reader cannot use them. Among the in-person products, the Ignite package is the only one whose listed inclusions mention online tickets.

What buyers still cannot check

Package buyers can select screenings before public single tickets open. As of October 12, the ticketing pages had no 2027 film lineup, screening schedule or package availability figures.

On r/Sundance, buyers asked how quickly packages sell out, whether anyone had a spare 2027 package, whether membership is worth the cost and how the Ignite package works. The threads had these counts on October 12:
