Battlefield 6 Season 5: What Starts October 13 and What Comes Later
Battlefield 6 Season 5 starts October 13 with Vegas Strip, Area 51, Rapid Royale and four weapons. Gauntlet leaves at launch; the Casino Heist and Frozen Aces phases are scheduled for November and December.

Battlefield 6 Season 5 begins October 13, 2026. EA’s roadmap puts two maps, Rapid Royale, four weapons and new competitive modes in the opening phase. A third battlefield, Casino Heist and Frozen Aces arrive later, with dates through December 8. Gauntlet leaves the active playlist at the season start.
What arrives October 13
Vegas Strip and Area 51 are the two launch maps. Vegas Strip includes casino interiors, hotel spaces, streets and storm drains; Area 51 combines outdoor vehicle combat with a crater and underground corridors. EA says another map will arrive later in the season, so the first two are not the complete Season 5 map list.
The opening arsenal adds the Mk 24 Assault Rifle, RSPR Submachine Gun, Z84M Light Machine Gun and ELR-40 Bolt-Action Sniper Rifle. EA describes the Mk 24 as a lower-capacity rifle built for ranged accuracy, the RSPR as a high-damage SMG with heavier recoil, and the Z84M as a 100-round close-range LMG with handling trade-offs. The ELR-40 is for longer sightlines, with a single-shot ammunition option that shifts it toward close range. EA has not published the full weapon-by-weapon balance notes in the roadmap, so these are design descriptions rather than an independent ranking of which weapon is strongest.
REDSEC gets Rapid Royale in Trios and Solos. EA describes it as a shorter Battle Royale mode with smaller player counts, high-value loot and a Ring of Fire that keeps squads moving. Eliminations can earn redeploys, giving aggressive squads a way back into the match. Season 5 also starts a new Ranked BR season and the Open Series; the Elite Series is due later.
REDSEC’s playlist changes are part of the launch
The current Solo and Duo Battle Royale rotation ends at the start of Season 5. Rapid Royale Solos and Trios take the priority spots. EA says Battle Royale Duos are planned to return later in the season, but its September 30 community update described that rotation as a direction still being evaluated. The studio also says Gauntlet will leave the active playlist on October 13 and may return after it reviews queue health, but no return date is announced.
The September community update also lists a 20% faster armor-plating speed across classes, revised class paths, more gadgets in the loot pool and Reconnect for players who drop from an active REDSEC match. It says the full weapon-by-weapon breakdown would follow in the season notes. Treat those details as published plans rather than a guarantee that every adjustment will remain unchanged.
REDSEC class changes also affect starting loadouts. Engineers begin with the Aim-Guided Launcher function unlocked. Support loses the Supply Bag and Smoke Launcher as starting items; Supply Pouches and Deployable Cover take their places, with the former items joining the loot pool. The pool also gains Defibrillator, Breaching Dart and Anti-Drone Gun. EA described these as Season 5 plans and reserved the detailed weapon-by-weapon notes for the release update.
The season continues through December
The full-game trial is scheduled for October 15–19. On November 10, the Casino Heist update brings an infantry-focused European Casino battleground and a limited-time event. On December 8, Frozen Aces is scheduled to add Operation High Roller, Platoons, a Server Browser, updated Blackwell Fields and New Sobek City, new weapons and gear, and the B-81 Cavalry.
The later phases separate new content from feature work. Casino Heist adds a close-quarters setting and event; Frozen Aces includes the social and browser features some players may be waiting for. EA’s roadmap places Server Browser in the December update, so it is not part of the October 13 launch package.
Portal builders also get changes at launch. Both opening maps are slated to appear as Verified Portal Experiences first, with Custom Experiences support following later. Water support expands beyond Ocean Sandbox to Sandbox and REDSEC maps, and the Crashed Carrier becomes a Portal point of interest with higher-value loot. EA says additional water support on Battlefield 6 multiplayer maps will come in later updates.
That schedule places the launch maps and Rapid Royale first, then the casino event, followed by the December systems and map refresh. The roadmap does not say the Casino Heist date applies to every platform’s local time, so check the in-game update notice before planning a group session around the transition.
EA says the season’s planned content can change as development and player feedback continue. Its October 9 roadmap is the current source for dated milestones; earlier previews are useful for mechanics but may not include the final rollout dates.
